A Letter from TAPA President Ryan English

TAPA President Matt BoutteWelcome to TAPA’s Advocacy Action website! We’re proud to present this as the one-stop shop for legislative resources for all Texas PAs.

This site will not only be a guide to help you navigate the complicated legislative process, but it will also give you tools to help get engaged and start advocating!

The 88th Texas Legislative Session is about to start, and right on the front page, you will find links to each of the bills that TAPA is currently supporting, including the bill number and the author, and even a link to the text of the actual bill language. On the front page, you will also find buttons to LEARN, IMPACT and ENGAGE in order to contact your state representative and state senator directly. They want to hear from you more than anyone, so let them know that you and your patients support these bills!

The dropdown menus have several helpful links, including TAPA’s Legislative FAQ with helpful explanations on the most common legislative issues that you, as a member, have asked us about regarding PA practice in Texas. You’ll also find an easy walkthrough of how a bill becomes a law in Texas and how to find your state elected officials. You’ll even be able to register to vote if you haven’t already!

Finally, there’s a link in the dropdown menu describing the Texas Physician Assistant Political Action Committee and how your donation directly impacts PA legislative matters. If you haven’t already, there will be an easy way to donate to the PAC. Money is the muscle for our mission, so give today!

I hope you’ll find this website a better, more intuitive way to become involved in the legislative process in our great state. Thank you.
