A Letter from TAPA President Matt Boutte

TAPA President Matt BoutteWelcome to TAPA’s Advocacy Action website! We’re proud to present this as the one-stop-shop for legislative resources for all Texas PAs.

I know the legislative process can be seem confusing and convoluted, so our Advocacy Action website has several features to not only help you better understand the legislative process here in Texas, but also how to become engaged on the issues that TAPA is currently supporting in Austin.

The 87th Texas Legislative Session is in full swing, and right on the front page you will find links to each of the bills that TAPA is currently supporting, including the bill number and the author, and even a link to the text of the actual bill language. On the front page you will also find buttons to LEARN, IMPACT and ENGAGE in order to directly contact your own state representative and state senator to let them know that you and your patients support these bills!

The dropdown menus have several helpful links, including TAPA’s Legislative FAQ with helpful explanations on the most common legislative issues that you as a member have asked us about regarding PA practice in Texas. You’ll also find an easy way to find out how a bill becomes a law in Texas, and how to find your state elected officials. You’ll even find a way to register to vote, if you haven’t already!

Finally, you’ll find a link in the dropdown menu as to who and what the TAPA Political Action Committee is and how your donation makes a direct impact on PA legislative matters. If you haven’t already, there will be an easy way for you to make a donation to the PAC!

I hope you’ll find this website a better, more intuitive way for you to become involved in the legislative process in our great state.
